Amazon Linux version 2 is the current iteration of Amazon's default EC2 Linux-based operating system. You can verify the version of Amazon Linux you are running by running this command:

[jamie@ca.dawgland.com:~]$ cat /etc/os-release

Hit the ENTER key after typing the above command, and you should see similar output:

ID_LIKE="centos rhel fedora"
